Friday Photo Walk
Slow shutter speeds

Friday Photo walk – The slow shutter speed challenge.

Friday 20th September 9.30am – 11.30am Felixstowe Seafront

Join me for another Friday Photo Challenge. This one is all about slow shutter speeds. It is not just water that can look interesting at slower shutter speeds. You can use motion blur on anything that is moving. Alternatively you can elect to move the camera instead and create your own motion blur. How you approach this challenge is up to you and the only stipulation is your shutter speed.

On this walk you will be restricted to a shutter speed of 1/30 second and slower. To achieve this you will need a 6 stop and / or a 10 stop filter. The challenge will be to capture interesting images using anything that is moving – water, people, traffic, vegetation, boats, birds etc.  Alternatively you can extend your creativity by moving the camera instead – you will still need to use a slow shutter speed if you elect to use ICM techniques.

We will be ambling from Felixstowe Pier along the seafront and will see how far we get in the time. You can use whatever shutter speed you like to achieve the effect you are after but you cannot shoot faster than 1/30 second.

At the end of the walk you are welcome to share your images to my Facebook page – Photographing Suffolk – and I will choose my favourite. The winner will receive an A3 print on fine art photo rag paper.
