Covehithe Visual Storytelling Workshop -Saturday 11th June 8am – 11.00am

Join me for a morning group workshop at Covehithe exploring the art of visual storytelling through photography. The workshop will take place in the coastal hamlet of Covehithe which is located right on the edge of the cliffs. Erosion has been a big problem here with winter storms battering the cliffs causing trees to fall to the beach. Covehithe is also known for its church within a church a landmark that hints at more prosperous times in the past. Out to sea is the now drowned landscape of Doggerland, an area of lowland that once connect England to the continent. Rising sea levels flooded this landscape displacing its inhabitants, a process that is happening again today. The soft cliffs reveal many stories from the past bringing in to focus what has gone before and what we stand to lose today in the face of global sea level rise.

We will explore various aspects of visual storytelling including:

how to use composition in visual storytelling

how to use apertures, focal lengths and viewpoints

how to use mood to convey emotion and a sense of place

how to tell a story through the use of a single image.

how to use a panel of images to tell a story

This workshop is suitable for all levels and cameras. You may wish to bring a tripod and a remote timer and filters if you have them (if not I have a range of Lee filters that you are welcome to borrow – (please ask when booking)
