Spring Woodlands Workshop

Saturday 24th April 2021 9am – 12 midday.

This woodland workshop takes place in Captains Wood, Sudbourne and is timed to coincide with the bluebell display.

Captains Wood is an ancient woodland full of rare plants. It has a superb mix of natural habitats supporting a wide range of wildlife, including fallow deer, barn owl and bats. There are some lovely areas of silver birch and coppiced hazel trees as well as a small pond which adds an extra dimension to the woodland scene. Captains Wood is most renowned for its fantastic display of bluebells in April and May which provide plenty of colourful photographic opportunities.

During the workshop we will work on identifying subjects, finding viewpoints, working with supporting elements using lines, shapes, patterns and textures. Woodlands can often be chaotic places visually, so we will work on simplifying the scene and identifying what features to use within the frame to create compelling images.

The Spring Woodland Workshop is a small group workshop run with a maximum of 4 participants so ensuring plenty of individual tuition.

This is a 3 hour workshop and includes a set of digital course notes. It is suitable for all levels and abilities and all camera types. Participants are invited to submit their collection of images for comments and feedback after the workshop.
